Practice Driven Psychotherapy Training for Mental Health Clinicians
Enhance your therapeutic skills with this comprehensive 10-week program combining evidence-based seminar training and expert case supervision. Designed for psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, PhDs PsyD and counselors working with patients with varied diagnoses and problems including those with severe personality disorders.
Program Components
Seminar Series (10 one-hour sessions) Progressive curriculum covering essential supportive psychotherapy skills, from foundational concepts to advanced interventions. Topics include therapeutic alliance, case formulation, personality organization, resistance management, and evidence-informed change strategies, and practical interventions along a supportive expressive continuum.
Clinical Supervision (10 one-hour small-group sessions) Intensive case-based learning with nationally recognized expert Robert E. Feinstein, MD. Groups of three participants receive personalized feedback on diagnostic formulation, treatment planning, crisis management, and uses od strategies, tactics, and interventions through structured case presentations.
What You'll Learn

What Makes This Different?
Traditional supervision reviews what happened. The Apprenticeship Model teaches through live, hands-on experience—the way physicians learn surgery or musicians master their instrument.
Honored with the Association for Academic Psychiatry's Education Achievement Award (2023), this approach transforms how clinicians develop therapeutic skill, clinical intuition, and authentic presence.
How It Works
Live Supervision with Your Patient
Virtual sessions conducted as a triad: supervisor, patient, and you. Requires patient consent. Typically, 5-20 sessions using supportive and psychodynamic approaches, borrowing from CBT, DBT, MBT, and TFP as needed.
Three Phases (5 to 20 Session are Divided in Thirds):
Phase 1: Observe ( 1/3 of total sessions)
Supervisor leads while you observe and occasionally participate. See theory translate into real-time decisions.
Phase 2: Practice with Live Coaching ( ( 1/3 of total sessions)
You lead while supervisor observes, interjecting with redirection and guidance exactly when you need it.
Phase 3: Independent Practice( 1/3 of total sessions)
You proceed by preference—supervisor stays live, watches via recording, or steps out. Sessions recorded for review.
